Yellow-spotted snake eel
The Yellow-spotted snake eel (''Callechelys lutea'', also known as the Freckled snake eel〔(Common names of ''Callechelys lutea'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕) is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).〔(''Callechelys lutea'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by John Otterbein Snyder in 1904.〔Snyder, J. It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from the Hawaiian Islands, Midway Island, and the French Frigate Shoals, in the Pacific Ocean. It dwells at a depth range of , and forms burrows in sand sediments. Males can reach a maximum total length of .〔
